PERSPECTIVES...

I'm always fascinated by how people can see the exact same thing but view it so differently. It's all down to our perspectives. One the weekend Other Half and I went for a lovely drive to Mount Macedon. We wanted to check out the autumn tones and it was so beautiful. *and yes I do live in the Dandenong Ranges where we have our own autumn leaves in full glory but we thought we'd check out some place different. It was a beautiful day, even if grey, cloudy, misty at the top of the mountain and cold. Other Half stopped at a few places to take some snaps and (I've known this for a long time) it reinforced how different we are. We can see exactly the same view, vista, moment in front of us...and we both choose a different angle. We would be out of the car, he facing one way taking a photo, me facing the other taking my photo. And if we did take a photo of the same thing, same building or tree or mountain...we framed it differently. I really love the fact...

PERSPECTIVE...

I went away to Mornington for the weekend, a belated birthday present. It was lovely, not only the weather was glorious, but we walked along the beach... and had some fantastic food at various places. The highlight was going to Heronswood  , where we happily wandered the gardens for quite a few hours before having lunch then hitting the plant shop. Other half and myself were content to look at the gardens, to ooh and ahh, to ask 'can we do this you think?' and take photographs. And this is where it always interests me, we saw the same things, the same plants, the same garden beds, the same everything. But we always see things in a different way. Our perspectives are different so we take totally different photos. We frame them differently... we focus on different aspects. Nothing is ever the same no matter how similar the starting point is. This is something that intrigues me all the time in our writing. One of the writing groups I go to h...

IT'S ALL TO DO WITH PERSPECTIVE...

We saw Tilly horse last night---and as I was feeling a complete failure (sometimes she does what we say, sometimes she does what she wants...sigh) we talked to Bec and Tony who have Turner - an ex racehorse that they adore (what a sad life so many racehorses live!). Talking to others who have been where we are, who kept telling us to keep on, that you learn through your mistakes and some times something will just click and she'll get it. Or we'll learn the way she wants to get it....I thought back to how much we have learnt through the past year. Coming from a non-horse background, I tend to look at what we 'haven't' done, not what we have achieved. And I realise as it is that time of the year when I try and set goals, that as humans we tend to do this with everything. This is part of the backyard we have yet to tame...it's a place the kids love to play and hide in. At first all I could see was what HAD YET to be done. There is ivy and blackberrie...
