WINDING DOWN...

Image
This week is the week when I run the last of the children's programs. It means a lot of Christmas earrings and jingle bells, candy canes and letters to Santa. Lots of goodbyes from the kiddies moving onto Kindergarten and those heading to school. And even though there are still a few weeks till the end of the year, it's this moment when (at work) we look back to see what worked, what didn't, and even though we are prepped till after the Easter holidays 2020, we are working out what could be tweaked and adjusted. This time of the year is chaos. (Had to laugh at one Mum who told me I could now have a 'well deserved break' ) Some of you may find it organised chaos, but to me it's strictly I-HAVE-NO-IDEA-WHAT-I'M-DOING kind of chaos. Today, in an effort to find my Christmas Spirit,  I did some wrapping of presents (while watching ELF) and have been singing Santa Clause is Coming to Town loudly (cat only giving mild glares) And no matter how determi...

TIME TO SLOW DOWN....

Or is it? I recently had the Christmas breakup for my writing group. It was a chance for some good food, great company and a look back over the year for us all. Had we reached those goals we set in January? Had we flown by the seat of our pants and achieved others? Had life thumped us in the gut and left us too stunned to do much but place one foot in front of the other? So with a sigh, it was a time to relax. Our next meeting isn't till the end of January. Time to get out into the garden (when the heat allows)....frankly it needs it! Or is it time to spend with my nearest and dearest. It is the festive season after all. Time to spend with this young lady.... or perhaps this one... But then 12 weeks is a LOOOONG time.  84 days. Think what can be done in...

READY FOR HIBERNATION....

I must admit I do love autumn. It's not only the trees colouring up gorgeously as they are at the moment, it's more the lovely sunshine filled days with the crisp mornings and chilled nights. These are the days that are just delightful to be out and about in. Not too hot, not too cold (bit Goldilocks I know but that's how I feel). Interestingly enough, it's when I begin to hibernate. Not that I crawl into my cave and that's it, lights out. Wake me when spring arrives. Although that would be nice at times...but I feel myself slow down. Simple tasks take longer, I get sidetracked easier (if that was possible)...and my writing actually stops. And if not stops, it slows down to a trickle, no, not even a trickle. More like a few desultory drips every now and then. I was reading an article a while ago that said we are a fickle lot when it comes to fashion. In summer and spring we buy buy buy. Not because we need, but we want. All that sunshine and bright ...
