DE-CLUTTERING IS THE LATEST BLACK...

Einstein is quoted as saying 'If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?' I have a cluttered desk, both at home and at work. There are periods at work when my desk is clear...not many I grant you. Just when there are a few weeks with no children's programs, we are already planning for next year's as well as various regular programs and any new ones we are launching. So there are various (I run 1 Storytime, 2 Tinies a week, one Tinies will now be half songs and books, half craft project...I also do the first time parents groups every 6 weeks,  monthly Explorers Club and the new Creative Kids group...not to mention school holiday programs that pop up). So basically that is a lot of ideas whirling around...and prototypes and notes and books and crafts etc etc... I do try to keep it to a 'chaotic' sense of control, mainly to appease co-workers who feel the need to CLEAN UP MY DESK. Frankly I want more space, more ...

TAKING IT STEP BY STEP....

Another year, another list. Yep, that's me a list maker. Do I ever finish everything on my list... SOMETIMES....   OCCASIONALLY...  hmmm perhaps seldom would be better. But a lot does get accomplished. It is often, I have noticed, the real I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS AT ALL items that remain. I am making the effort to do these first. Ring the doctor, dentist etc then something a tad more fun afterwards. One of my recurring items on my list is TIDY MY DESK. Being true to character I have tidied my small (tending to be overgrown) potting area. There are plans for a proper potting shed like structure...but until then, this small area outside the laundry is it. I got Other Half to sort through his collection of t-shirts and old jeans. Bags for rubbish, a few to be donated. Two drawers tidied up. After reading a 'Five minute wardrobe hack'...I did the easy option of turning all my coat hangers around the other way. It seems, that in a year's time you will know ...

WITH AGE COMES ACCEPTANCE....

Each year I resolve to do many things. Unfortunately, as so many resolutions do, they fall to the wayside. Some resolutions survive the entire year, others make it to about July then wither...and even more (hangs head in shame) barely make it into February. More embarrassingly, or perhaps I am merely human, I do have perennial resolutions. Health ones (move more and eat less). Home ones (get some bloody things done and finished!) And each year I strive .... attempt ...pretend that I can keep my desk tidy. Each year I work at it. I spend hours moving things, putting pieces of paper in the bin, replacing books back in the bookshelf, becoming lost as I reread something I've been working on. At the end of said hours I have something that looks like this. However it doesn't last long. After only a few hours some chaotic whirlwind has deposited an unpaid bill...a reminder of necessary equipment for a children's program.....a phone number on a piece of torn paper...
