SUPER POWERS....

We all have them. Some of us flaunt them...think great musicians or actors...others live their lives and their super power is sometimes revealed when called upon.  There are those that can organise to the nth degree....some can Irish dance....some can juggle.

We all have our super powers.
Whether it's a huge love of animals...(even rats :(  )

Or a great love of helping...even if not wanted...

Or the ability to discover all the world has to offer...

Some writers I know have abilities they take for granted. Whether it's always meeting deadlines....staying super-focused and goal orientated....master of all aspects of grammar....ability to get the big picture down....able to capture a character or setting with ease.

We all have them as writers. Superpowers that we are aware of, sometimes we are told of others that bystanders can see in us. Unfortunately we also have our kryptonite.

These are our downfall. Enemies ready to take us down. Sometimes it's procrastination...or over thinking....perhaps it's research over actual writing......or is it blaming our busy lives for not getting anything done.  Is it poetic purple prose and over writing...or is it too much plot and not enough story.

We all have our super powers. And we all have our mortal enemies. Mine is procrastination and poor time management.

I'm still trying to discover my own super power...

  1. Your super powers. Imagination, the ability to captivate, the desire to enhance and enrich the lives of children. Your greatest super power. You brighten the world. You are right we all have super powers. Without the negatives though e.g.. lack of time management how would we recognise the positives? That sort of makes our negative a positive.
